Ambergris is a weird thing

The other day, we polled you good folks on Twitter for ideas for blog posts. Someone suggested whales, and while that's a pretty wide (though awesome) topic, it reminded me of my favorite whale product: ambergris!

Perhaps you've heard of ambergris in relation to perfume. Historically, it's been added to stabilize perfumes, helping the notes within evaporate less quickly, so that the scent on your wrist lasts more than 20 minutes.

Masters of Social Gastronomy: The Candy Lectures

Here's all you really need to know about the next MSG lecture on Tuesday, February 28: we're talking about candy, in a bar, you get to eat some, and it's free.

Let's Make: Jalapeño-Apple-tomic Fireballs

First we researched Atomic Fireballs. Then we made an ersatz candy version. The thing is, though, we live in Brooklyn. Everything needs to be grown on a rooftop and ethically sourced. Let's see if we can bring the Fireball back to its earthy roots.

(Yes, this is kind of a break from my attempts to make fake Science versions of everything.)
