Yes, I use this photo all the time, but it's my favorite!

What's happening this week: September 6-8

This week is busy busy, with 7 new classes in 3 days. I'm not sure what we were thinking.

Tuesday:  Soma's leading a primer on perhaps the most underloved spirit, gin. Here's a primer to get you ready, or at least to explain what oude jenever is. There are even a few spots left in class!

And though the hurricane did a number on local tomato harvests, we're going to be tasting and discussing the history and botany of tomatoes in all their summer glory. This is our first class with the awesome Scott Wiener of Scott's Pizza Tours, so rest assured he knows a lot about tomatoes.

On a completely different note, our three week session on Philosophy + Film starts Tuesday. Just one or two spots still available.

Wednesday: Another three week intensive starts on Wednesday--Storytelling on the Radio with Jenn Mattson. You'll tackle everything from writing for the ear to pitching your story to producers.

Beautiful Math, a two week survery on math and its applications for design, also starts Wednesday. Will there be calculus? Yep.

And we're doing the first of what will hopefully be many offsite walking tours. First up is Morningside Heights, and check here for some neat photos of the neighborhood in the old days.

Finally, on Thursday, Laura Silver is going to teach us all how to talk to strangers. If most Brainery classes fill your head with cocktail party facts, this one will help get those conversations going. Look for more sessions soon.

What else?

Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for an announcement about a new project shortly; it'll involve Williamsburg, bars, and history, and should be pretty awesome.

Lastly, did you know you can get on the wait list for full classes directly on the course's page? It is so quick and easy! Plus it lets us know how much interest there is in a class, so we can decide whether to offer it again.
