Bees are Awesome and Here are Ways to Learn About Them

I don't keep bees, but I wish I did. It seems like lots of us feel this way, and we've got two opportunities coming up to learn more about these little guys, hooray!
On Monday, February 27, we'll be hosting Top Wax Chef, a wax processing workshop courtesy of the Backwards Beekeepers of NYC. It's all free and starts at 8:30pm, and there'll be a chance to show off your newly gained knowledge with trivia (and prizes). RSVP and get more details here.
If you're ready to set up a hive this spring, then you'll want to take our Beekeeping 101 class. It starts on Thursday, and in four weeks, Tim will fill you in on everything from the social structure of the hive to how to beat nasty bee diseases. If that's not enough for you, we wrap everything up with a monster honey tasting. Like so many honeys.
During the last session of Tim's class, I learned that before European settlers arrived in North America, there weren't any honeybees at all. Crazy, right?
Most pollination was taken care of by native bees, and I got so excited I wrote a whole blog post about it.
So yeah, bees are neat.
