What's been going on at the Brainery
Posted by Jen Messier on may 16, 2011 under Class Recap
We've been super busy with a million classes, and even though we lost our camera charger for awhile, we managed to rustle up some photos from the past few weeks.
To wrap up our Data Viz class, we held a show and tell for people to demo their projects. Although there was much discussion of Chernoff Faces and pivot tables, Soma went low-tech with a drawing of the Brainery's activities over the past year or so. (above)
In our banh mi class, we learned all the secrets of everyone's favorite super trendy sandwich--like that part of what makes it so delicious is head cheese--and made some awesome Vietnamese iced coffee. (The key's in using a coffee/chicory blend, like the stuff from Cafe du Monde.)
We put the food processor to work in our Salad Dressing class, mixing up everything to a simple balsamic to honey mustard to an incredibly garlicky Caesar. I mostly just really love this photo.
And just so you don't think that all we do is make food, sometimes we just talk about it, like at our discussion on the Farm Bill. (Biggest surprise? the biggest chunk of the Farm Bill goes to nutritional programs.) Visit Food and Water Watch's site to learn more about what's going on with the 2012 version.
Oh! We also just got these wicked business cards with a million different facts on them. Be sure to steal a couple next time you're at the space.
