by Doug Keister

Why you should read it: Stories in Stone New York is sort of like an AIA Guide to NYC for cemeteries. It's a cohesive almanac of cemeteries in the city with compact, but well-researched, descriptions for each.

imageBlood, Bones & Butter

by Gabrielle Hamilton

Why you should read it: Blood, Bones & Butter gives great insight into the not-so-linear or clear-cut path, full of seemingly various and random life experiences, that sometimes leads the way to great chefdom.

by Benjamin Feldman

Why you should read it: Ben's a great friend of the Brainery, and he's an excellent storyteller, bringing to life some of New York City's most interesting, though often forgotten, stories. Butchery on Bond Street tells the tale of an infamous murder that captivated the city in 1857.
