1 in 6 of Brooklyn's 49,000 businesses is food related, and those businesses all had to start somewhere. Stef Ferrari, Founder of the forthcoming Carroll Gardens' specialty food business Hay Rosie Craft Ice Cream Company will be on hand to discuss some of the steps and challenges associated with this sector.

Learn and ask questions about decision making on everything from home-based production vs a dedicated location, distribution plans, retail vs wholesale, securing capital, branding, pricing, marketing, navigating state regulations and requirements, and strategizing sustainable practices for both the production and business sides of the endeavor.

While no two scenarios are exactly the same, this Q & A gives a glimpse into the small food business world at the start-up phase in the city's largest borough. Plus, there's a whole lot of conversation about ice cream, and what could be bad about that?
