Simple Handmade Books
Taught by Jonathan Soma
Soma was born in the South, is what someone from the North would say. He co-founded the Brainery, is the sciencey half of Masters of Social Gastronomy, and plans on getting married to Waffle House. In his more droll moments he is a tragic sellout to higher ed as a professor of data journalism at Columbia University's journalism school.

We've got a new monthly thing going on--super cheap drop-in classes one Sunday afternoon every month where you get to hang out and learn the very basics of something, inspired by our grand-opening Kimchi Party. This time around we're getting crafty with handsewn notebooks. Come anytime between 1-5pm and spend as long as you'd like!
Inspired by our recent bookbinding class, we've been making lots and lots of notebooks lately. So for this month's Sunday party, we'll show you the basics of making some cool little handsewn notebooks from a few materials you probably already have laying around the house--scrap paper, needles, and thread. You'll never need to buy a birthday present again.
We'll have lots of paper, needles, and thread on hand, but feel free to bring any especially awesome paper you'd like to turn into a notebook, and keep an eye out for a full session of bookbinding again in June!
This class, like all the rest, meets at the Brainery space at 515 Court Street in Carroll Gardens, BK.
