Laura Scheck is the founder of Teaching Table, a culinary education platform that aims to inspire others to cook foods that are better for their bodies, their families, and their communities. Laura previously worked as a teacher and adult educator and was trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute, making her uniquely suited to share her passion for food in an educational way. Teaching Table provides public cooking demos and workshops, lessons targeted towards individual needs and special diets, private cooking classes & events for cooks of all ages and experience levels, as well as tips, techniques, and recipes via a blog and social media.

The plants come first in these memorable vegetarian meals you can make all winter long. They work as first courses too, but truly stand alone as hearty, complete and creative meals for vegetarians or those just trying to reduce their meat intake. In this class, you’ll discuss how to center meal planning around plants, how to prepare and season vegetables properly, how to use beans and legumes for maximum health benefits, and how to get the most bang out of your spice rack.
We will also share our favorite vegetarian recipes with each other so you’ll not only learn the adaptable recipes in this class, but you’ll walk away with a bundle of ideas for the next few months.
Special equipment: a food processor and/or a blender or vitamix is highly recommended for this class.
