Taught by Julia Silver Gordon of Hiho Batik

Hiho Batik is an experiential retail store and art space, offering people of all ages one-of-a-kind products, in a mass-produced world.

In the Hiho Batik art space, our guests create Make-Your-Own Hiho products and participate in DIY classes taught by local artists and craftspeople.

This is an old class! Check out the current classes, or sign up for our mailing list to see if we'll offer this one again.

This class might be over, but get first dibs on new sessions and brand-new classes by signing up on our ultra-rad mailing list.

*This class takes place in Hiho Batik's studio inside their store, located at 184 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn.*

In this hands-on class, we'll learn the art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique, and will practice different techniques using wax and dye. We'll then use these techniques to create a set of four cloth napkins, perfect for your holiday table. (There will also be an option to purchase additional napkins, if you'd like!)

All materials are provided, but please note you'll have to come back approximately one week later to pick up your napkins! Learn more about batik in our peek behind the scenes

Be sure to select your preferred session from the drop down menu on the next page! Class might be a little longer or shorter depending on the intricacy of your design.
