Laura Scheck is the founder of Teaching Table, a culinary education platform that aims to inspire others to cook foods that are better for their bodies, their families, and their communities. Laura previously worked as a teacher and adult educator and was trained at the Natural Gourmet Institute, making her uniquely suited to share her passion for food in an educational way. Teaching Table provides public cooking demos and workshops, lessons targeted towards individual needs and special diets, private cooking classes & events for cooks of all ages and experience levels, as well as tips, techniques, and recipes via a blog and social media.
Just because you can eat out again doesn’t mean you have to! You can still learn how to perfect your own date night meal at home. Impress your date, whether that’s your partner, mom, kid or roommate with your new line chef skills.
Chef Laura will break down the preparation of a 3-course date night menu, including fancy plated dessert. You’ll practice knife work, learn to perfectly cook grains, render duck fat, make a pan sauce and also be let in on some restaurant secrets.
starter: Shaved Asparagus (or zucchini) and Summer Squash with Farro, Lemon Sherry Vinaigrette, Whipped Ricotta
main: Garam Masala Spiced Duck Breast with Cherry Wine Reduction, Rosemary Duck Fat Potato Stacks
dessert: Macerated Berries and Peaches with Bourbon Zabaglione and Ladyfinger Pistachio Crumble
What You Need:
This is a virtual hands-on class. There is some prep required for this class. You’ll receive a detailed ingredients, materials and prep list at least 2 weeks before class.
No special tools or ingredients required. We teach confident substitutions.
