Experimental Watercolor & Geometric Collage

Taught by Jen Messier
Jen is the co-founder of the Brainery and lives in Kensington with her partner and (too many) cats. She knows a little bit about a lot of things and can teach a lot of classes on the fly. Currently really into embroidery, cyanotypes, and paper marbling.
You can ask her anything at jen@brooklynbrainery.com.
Join us for a fun and relaxing couple hours of art making and get those creative juices flowing. In the first part of class, we'll work with watercolors and some fun alternatives to create beautiful background papers using experimental techniques (think rubbing alcohol, coffee filters and more).
Then, we'll tear them all to shreds to create intuitve collages based on geometric shapes. This class all about process and relaxation, but you're sure to create some lovely artworks as well!
Materials provided.
*This class is a special fundraiser for Mushroom the cat!*
Mushroom is the sweetest cat who ever lived. He came into ACC after being left behind in an apartment in Astoria when his owner moved out. Mushroom got quite sick with an upper respiratory infection after arrival to the shelter, but more concerningly, he had extreme anemia which required two blood transfusions to treat. We pulled Mushroom from ACC and had him transferred directly to VERG in Brooklyn for hospitalization. He ended up staying for five days and spent over $10,000.
Can't make it Sunday? You can donate toward Mushroom's bill directly at catrepublic.com/donate.
