Cyanotype is a form of photography with a gorgeous blue hue invented in 1842. It was often used as way of disseminating information (like how to build a house) via "blueprints" before we had photocopiers and computers. Join us for a cyanotype-making workshop with the intent of creating multiples of protest materials that you can easily post and share in physical form.
Come with a phrase in mind to draw and make a letter cut out of your own handwriting, or use our pre-made letter selection to spell out the protest phrase of your choice (you know, like F*** ICE). You can even use paper clips, pasta, yarn or other non-traditional materials to spell out your choice of phrase. We'll focus our time on makie multiple copies of your sign that can be shared however you'd like.
A portion of the proceeds from this workshop will go to Make the Road NY. Inspired by the awesome artwork currently on display at the Textile Arts Center. Please email jen@brooklynbrainery.com if you can't afford the registration fee.
