If you've ever wanted to explore a more loose or abstract style of painting, join us in this Abstract Watercolors workshop! Great for both beginners and more experienced watercolor artists, this workshop allows the thinking mind to relax as we explore a more meditative and freeing approach to art-making. We will use wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques to create original paintings while focusing on composition, color choice, and balance.

Some highlights will include:

  • Creating a cohesive color palette
  • Exploring different types of mark making and painting styles
  • Creating a balanced composition with geometric and organic forms
  • Adding some mixed media such as pen, colored pencils, markers, or other tools you already have around your house

Various supplies needed:

- Watercolor paints. You don't need to purchase expensive paints; even a basic watercolor set with primary colors will be great for this class.
- Watercolor brushes. I will use both larger and smaller round brushes in this class (Sizes 2 to 10), and, but you're welcome to use what you have!
- Watercolor or mixed media paper. (If you need a recommendation, we love Canson XL paper or Strathmore 400 series. Both are very budget friendly and come in different sizes.)
- Palette, disposable plate, or take-out container lid for mixing colors
- Water cup and paper towels
- Masking tape or washi tape
- Optional mixed media: black pens, Sharpies, colored pencils, markers, crayons, whatever writing/drawing instruments
