$7 Sundays! Bike Basics: Meet a Bicycle
Taught by Jonathan Soma
Soma was born in the South, is what someone from the North would say. He co-founded the Brainery, is the sciencey half of Masters of Social Gastronomy, and plans on getting married to Waffle House. In his more droll moments he is a tragic sellout to higher ed as a professor of data journalism at Columbia University's journalism school.

We've got a new monthly thing going on - $7 Sundays (yes, they're actually $5, but "Five Dollar Sundays" doesn't have that alliteration!). Super cheap drop-in classes where you get to hang out and learn the very basics of something, inspired by our grand-opening Kimchi Party. This time around it's learning about bikes!
Halfway between a lawnmower and a skateboard, bicycles can seem to be just out of reach in terms of understanding how they work, why they work, and how to fix them when they break down. But they aren't! We promise.
At this $7 Sundays we'll introduce you to the important parts of your bike, as well as give some tips on how to keep it running in tip-top shape.
Don't have a bike? Totally cool! We'll be preparing you for when you do go bike shopping, so you'll know the difference between things like quill and threadless stems, and the phrase "single pivot side-pull calliper brake" won't make you flinch.
This class is drop-in style - feel free to show up any time between 1 and 5 PM. You'll need to pre-register, though, because there are only a limited number of spots this time around!
Like everything else, this meets at 515 Court St in Brooklyn, at the corner of Court and W 9th.
