Jane Bruce
Born in England, Jane received a Master of Arts degree from the Royal College of Art, London, and undertook further post-graduate study at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred. Currently an independent artist and educator based in New York City, she has taught extensively in the US as well as in Australia, Canada and Europe. As a teacher Jane aim is to provide as much support, guidance and information as possible to create a learning environment that inspires confidence in a students’ ideas and making.
Throughout Jane’s career she has been the recipient of a range of Fellowships, Visiting Artist Awards and Grants, including Fellowships from the Creative Glass Center of America, the New York Foundation for the Arts, Artist-in-Residence at The Studio of the Corning Museum, Visiting Artist at The Museum of Glass, Tacoma, and a New Work Grant from the Australia Council. Jane exhibits her work internationally and it can be found in many major museum collections world wide, including those of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Europaisches Museum fur Modernes Glas, Kunstsammlunger der Veste Coburg, Germany, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Corning Museum of Glass, The Toledo Museum of Art, and The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, Australia.
