Upcycle Your Jewelry Workshop
Taught by Alyson Toone
Alyson is an alumni of Columbus College of Art and Design where she studied Fashion Design. However she's been a jewelry designer since her first macaroni necklace in kindergarten. She designs outerwear at her day job. After work, she enjoys challenging herself with new techniques and scouting vintage stores for things to upcycle.
Learn to upcycle old jewelry into a necklace that you love. Using basic jewelry making techniques such as knotting, creating pendants and using jump rings, you will be taught how to salvage good stuff from old jewelry to make something new. You will learn to work like a designer by using what you have and learning to design within boundaries.
All materials are provided, but bring in your own discarded jewelry if you have it. If you bring your own, brooches, old earrings and beaded necklaces work well for this exercise. The fancier the better to make a truly interesting piece. Say goodbye to your junk drawer of jewelry!
