Embrace the urban landscape and the summer sun in this two day plein air drawing workshop.

Students will learn the art of keeping a sketchbook, drawing from the vibrancy of Brooklyn's architecture, nature, and people. Using your own sketchbook and basic materials, we will explore the pleasures of drawing from observation, focusing on scale and proportion, as much as impression, movement and mark-making. Over the two days, we will experiment with wet and dry media as students examine city happenings. Students will leave with a record of their experience, as well as some new drawing skills to take with them.

To initiate the conversation, students can submit potential drawing sites around Prospect Heights to the group, offering us some sources of inspiration. As a supplement, students will be offered suggested readings and examples.

If you have them, feel free to bring the wet media of your choice (watercolors or inks), as well as your sketchbook. We will supply pencils, some fun experimental materials and the basics as well if you don't have your own.

This class is aimed at people with some prior drawing experience and will meet largely outdoors and around Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
