Why do we seek horror in media- and how does horror intersect with the American experiences?

Drawing from literature such as Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe to popular TV franchises (Twin Peaks, Supernatural) to even podcasts (Welcome to Night Vale), this talk offers an introduction to the elements of horror and elements of particularly American horror.
