Teeny Tiny Screen Print - member special
Taught by Brooklyn Brainery
Brooklyn Brainery hosts affordable classes at our location in Brooklyn (190 Underhill Ave in Prospect Heights), as well as additional events around the borough. We hosted our first classes in 2010 and look forward to hosting many more for years to come.
Screenprinting often feels like a big production — days of prep, lots of space, and bulky equipment. But it doesn’t have to be. In this workshop, we’ll explore screenprinting on a small, accessible scale that’s perfect for home studios.
Artwork should be 2" to 3.25" square maximum with one color as its design. You will be hand painting your design with a goopy substance, so keep your designs simple. To get the most printing time, have your artwork ready! Bring a few artwork options in case you don’t know which will work best. One color will be printed only at a time, though there should be time to print a few different colors. Hand painted details are also an option for those with a vision.
Bring items you’d like to print on, and experiment with this playful, hands-on process using a simple embroidery hoop and recycled silk screen. You’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of this age-old technique while learning how to simplify it into an approachable, low-tech method you can continue using on your own.
