Tapestry Weaving for Beginners
Taught by Rhiannon Platt
Rhiannon Platt is at least third generation fiber artist. Raised by seamstresses, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds, she picked up her first pair of needles over a decade ago. Since her first scarf, Rhiannon has gone on to fabricate for Lion Brand Yarn, Nathan Vincent, Olek, Jeila Gueramian, Londonkaye, and Levi’s. In between commissions, she finds time to write patterns and make endless sweaters.
Location: Prospect Heights Brainery (190 Underhill Ave in Prospect Heights, BK)
In this class, you will learn the basic skills to make your own small tapestry style weaving, from start to finish.
Beginners are welcome! You'll learn how to dress the loom, start the weaving, add a pattern or two, and tie it off. We'll make small tapestries that can be used as coasters or wall hangings, and you'll have the knowledge to keep weaving on your own.
(No need to bring any supplies - a simple frame loom and yarn are provided. Looms will be available to purchase after class if you get the weaving bug!).
