Taught by Douglas Strich

Douglas Strich has been making and performing with puppets since 1997 when he was introduced to the art by The Paper Moon Marionette Theatre's artistic director Jimmy Racioppi. Marionettes quickly became his passion and for the last 18 years he has been helping to bring quality puppet performances and education to people across the country. He has two degrees in theatre, one of them a Masters from UCONN in the Puppet Arts.

This is an old class! Check out the current classes, or sign up for our mailing list to see if we'll offer this one again.

In this class, you will be instructed on how to make your very own sophisticated theatrical device (a.k.a. Sock Puppet), along with how to operate it like a pro, including developing your character. The skills you will take away from this class can be applied to any type of puppetry. Perhaps you've always wanted to start a career in puppetry, but felt it was too hard. Or maybe you just want to learn a new craft. Or you're looking for new ways to broaden a child's imagination, and bring excitement to story time. Nothing in the world can do this like the spectacular art of puppetry, which you will be thoroughly introduced to after taking this class.

(This class is intended for adults!)
