This online workshop will focus on identifying and reflecting on creative blocks and giving artists across disciplines (visual art, writing, design, music) tools for working through these obstacles in a sustainable way. Inspired by Julia Cameron’s The Artist's Way, and instructor Christine Garvey’s own experiences as an artist and educator, this workshop is for anyone who needs a gentle nudge to listen to their creative calling.

Over the course of the workshop we will cover:

Creative Self-Worth:  How to strengthen your faith in the things you make
Fuel:  How to stay motivated without comparing yourself to others
Obligation:  How to find time for a creative project you care about
Abundance:  How to see new opportunities in your creative profession
Play:  How to let yourself experiment and thrive creatively
Champions:  How to find people who share your creative values

Each category will provide exercises for reflection on these concepts. Through writing and group conversation, participants will reflect on and organize past experiences in a way that will help them identify obstacles and potential blocks. What is getting in the way? How can I negotiate that obstacle with kindness? How can I set achievable goals that will help me move forward? Participants must feel comfortable reflecting on and sharing personal experiences as relates to the workshop topic. The course hopes to facilitate community amongst participants, such that they can continue these meaningful conversations and support systems in the future.
