This course will not just be about reading Rilke, but about learning a little bit about writing from him as well.

In the first class we'll try to understand Rilke's poems and how they were made; in the second class, we will add our own creative responses to the material discussed as we read the works. Our conversation will be based on Rilke's Elegies and Sonnets to Orpheus -- vast poems that explore angels, hookers, feelings and everything in between.

Participants are strongly encouraged to participate in the creative side of this workshop, but readers/listeners are welcome as well.
