Trail Map Reading
Taught by Sarah Knapp
Sarah L. Knapp is a Brooklyn-based entrepreneur and founder of OutdoorFest – a ten day outdoor adventure festival in New York City. She created OutdoorFest in October 2013 to provide her city with a dynamic platform that connects local resources with outdoor enthusiasts.
Sarah is both a licensed NY State Camping & Hiking guide as well as a Wilderness First Responder and believes in balancing city life with time in the woods.
In this workshop, we'll cover the basics of reading a trail map, from scale and contour lines to commonly used symbols - a skill that'll get you outdoors more while keeping you safe.
In addition, we'll explore some of the many awesome hiking trails in our region, preparing you for a summer of adventures.
This class is hosted in partnership with OutdoorFest, a ten-day festival coming to NYC from May 29-June 7, 2015.
