Fire Cider is a traditional tonic that herbalists have used for generations to ward off colds, flu, ease inflammation, pain and a myriad of other ailments. In this class we'll learn about its origins, recent controversy, its therapeutic benefits  and lots of ways to personalize this traditional blend while we chop and formulate together. A list of ingredients will be sent ahead of time for those who want to cook along.
 
Supplies needed:
  • 16-32oz of raw apple cider vinegar (like Bragg's)
  • a two ounce piece of organic horseradish (don't worry if you can't find it!)
  • a small to medium organic raw onion
  • 6-8 cloves of raw garlic
  • a large piece of organic raw ginger (enough for approximately a 1/4 cup once grated)
  • 1/2 a jar of organic cayenne pepper
  • black pepper (about 10 grinds)
  • cup of raw honey (optional)
  • measuring cups
  • a sharp knife +cutting board
  • grater
  • a measuring jug with ml measurements (if you have it)
  • Quart or 16 oz mason jar
  • plastic lid for mason jar and/or a 6" square piece of parchment paper
  • Additional optional extras: fresh thyme, rosemary, sage, or one ounce of any of the following medicinal herbs, (available from herb shops or online), elderberry, schisandra berry, elecampane, marshmallow root
