In this two week class, we'll explore the making of a handbound book from start to finish.

First, we'll talk a bit about the basics of paper: grain, folding properties, and the million other factors to consider when choosing paper for bookmaking, like weight, colors, and finishes.

Next, we'll look and try out several types of binding--folded bindings, accordian binding, and glued perfect-binding.

We'll also discuss some different ways to make simple covers. In the end, you'll combine all the skills you've learned into your own handmade book to take home

This class, like alllll of the others, happens at the Brainery space at 515 Court St in Brooklyn, on the corner of W 9th and Court.
