Taught by Rhiannon Platt

Rhiannon Platt is at least third generation fiber artist. Raised by seamstresses, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds, she picked up her first pair of needles over a decade ago. Since her first scarf, Rhiannon has gone on to fabricate for Lion Brand Yarn, Nathan Vincent, Olek, Jeila Gueramian, Londonkaye, and Levi’s. In between commissions, she finds time to write patterns and make endless sweaters.

This class will focus on how to combine a variety of stitches from the beginning embroidery class to form a variety of botanical images with an emphasis on stranded embroidery.

In addition to learning how to combine stitches, students will also be introduced to new stitches, including the satin stitch, padded satin stitch, lazy daisy, and overcast stitch.

Students will work on elements of this design and leave with a second fabric-printed design to continue working on the stitches learned in class.

Prior experience: recommended that students know the stem stitch, backstitch, and French knot.  If you are not familiar with embroidery at all, you won't be able to get as much done in class.
