Handmade Recycled Envelopes, or, How to Annoy Your Postman
Taught by Hayley Goldstein
Hayley Goldstein is a photographer and mail-artist who just recently moved to Brooklyn from Boulder, Colorado. She studied religious studies at Naropa University and thus enjoys deep philosophical conversations, hands-free bike riding, and receiving and sending beautiful mail.
'Tis the season to make and send beautiful mail art! Ever think of making envelopes and postcards out of maps, magazines, comics, old clothing, or cereal boxes? Well, you can! Not only for sending, handmade stationery is a great gift idea, too.
In this 90 minute workshop, we will:
- Learn the USPS postal guidelines, and see how much actually can go through the mail!
- Learn and practice a basic no-cut envelope folding technique
- Create and share with fellow students!
Basic supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring magazines, newspapers, fabric scraps, or anything else you'd think would make a beautiful envelope!
