Gnomenclature: All You Ever Wanted to Gnome about Gnomes

Taught by Katie Henry

Katie Henry fell in love with the charm of gnomes and never looked back. By day she manages youth and family programming at a museum in New York. At the museum she makes up activities like how to make Victorian pocket size murals and soft sculpture muskrats. At a previous job she taught children short phrases in morse code. When not instructing children in strange arts and science projects she hopes to do the same for adults (I.e. a class on gnomes).

Gnomes. Small creatures usually up to no good. Don't confuse them with smurfs, dwarfs, trolls, gremlins, hobbits, (though we will talk about them too)...

But did you ever wonder where they came from and who invented these lovable and irksome creatures?  We'll cover the history of gnomes and explore together why people are so fascinated by them. In addition to history, we'll take a gnome personality quiz to learn what type of gnome you are, imagine what language gnomes would use, and create a cute gnome keepsake to take home.
