Experience Design For Everyone
Taught by The Design Gym
We are a group of designers, strategists and thinkers of many stripes. Go to www.thedesigngym.com for our full bios. They are too long for this tiny page.
What is Experience Design? And how does it relate to Interaction Design? If you've had some exposure to digital design and want to take your vocabulary and tools to the next level, we'll spend a fast and furious day taking you through some of the core concepts of cross-channel experience design, past digital wireframing tools and into empathy with your user base. We'll give you tools to think and draw on your feet and pitch your concepts with ease and impact.
Creating an excellent user experience takes research and attention to detail, as well as knowledge of people and the interfaces they interact with. Being responsible for imagining, designing and communicating solutions to these business problems takes a wide variety of skills. If you have a business, or work for one, with physical (service or in-person) and digital touchpoints that you want to perfect, this class will be a great deep dive for you. No prior web or digital experience is necessary...just a desire to learn and experiment!
We'll cover:
• How to use empathy and analysis to map a user experience and identify key points of conflict or friction.
• Storyboarding for idea generation: Harnessing the power of incorporating words and pictures.
• Emotional Arcs and Engagement Curves - add human emotion to your screen concepts to make wireframes that really communicate
• Interface Diagrams: Wireframing 101 and how to turn flows into screens.
• Storytelling for Impact: how to pitch unforgettable concepts.
Lunch will be on your own, with a design-driven field mission.
