Drawing with Scissors (Windsor Terrace)

Taught by Marna Chester

MARNA CHESTER is a multidisciplinary artist and native New Yorker. Her love of paper has manifested in bookmaking, paper-making and sculpting.  Marna's paper installations have been featured through multiple seasons of Bergdorf Goodman's window displays, on the Warner Bros. television series, Gotham, and at The Voelker Orth Museum and Bird Sanctuary. She holds a BFA from Alfred University and a Master of Professional Studies from Pratt Institute. When she's not immersed in paper, she's practicing yoga, bike riding or working a make-up shift at the Park Slope food co-op.

Wednesday, May 10, 6:30-8:30pm

Location: Brainery Annex (1233 Prospect Ave, Windsor Terrace)

We surround ourselves with it daily, yet, have you considered all the possibilities in a single sheet of paper?

This class will explore the “out-of-the-box” possibilities paper can offer in both 2D and 3D. Using exacto blades (and/or scissors), paper and glue, we will explore positive and negative space through shapes while thinking about color, light and shadow.

We will use simple tools to create curves, rounded edges and folds to create dramatic effects. In this workshop let's have FUN while discovering, and make a card for someone special. No experience necessary.
