Brooklyn Waterfront Past and Present Boat Tour
Taught by Turnstile Tours and Classic Harbor Line
Turnstile Tours is a new company that highlights the ever-changing nature of New York City neighborhoods through conducting in-depth research, working with community partners, and seeking out new avenues to engage the public with the urban landscape. In addition to developing tours, we also work with partners to craft a variety of public programs and exhibits. For each of our projects, we partner with a community non-profit organization that works to keep neighborhoods vital and thriving, and at least 5% of all of our ticket sales goes towards supporting them. We are a New York State-registered benefit corporation, meaning that we are required to subject ourselves to an annual review of the performance of our social mission based on third party standards and post our findings on our website. We are so very grateful to the many people and institutions that have made this company possible. For more information, please contact us at info@turnstiletours.com
Dedicated to helping locals and visitors alike enjoy the unique wonders of New York City, Classic Harbor Line hopes for the privilege of escorting you on a relaxing, inspiring, and breathtaking cruise through the waters we proudly call home. Our three classic yachts — the Schooner Adirondack and the Schooner America 2.0 (our sailboats), and the Luxury Yacht Manhattan (our motorized yacht) are reminiscent of the classic boats that cruised the NYC waters in the past two centuries.
We offer a wide range of ticketed sightseeing New York City Cruises. Whether you are a fan of the cruising on an elegant motor yacht to see the entire New York City skyline with comfort and speed, or if you are inclined to take a more adventurous escape on our swift, double-masted sailboats, you are sure to find a cruise that will suit you with service that treats you like royalty.
Step aboard the luxury yacht Kingston on this intimate two-hour cruise narrated by guides from Turnstile Tours that explores the Brooklyn waterfront past and present, from the borough’s historical emergence as an industrial powerhouse, to its resurgence today as a major center of innovation, industry, and recreation.
The Brooklyn waterfront has long been a major economic engine and cultural touchstone for New York City – there’s no better way to explore this dynamic landscape than from the water.
Our route will include the Brooklyn Navy Yard and then go south through Red Hook, Gowanus Bay, Industry City/Bush Terminal, and the Brooklyn Army Terminal, and our tour will be narrated by a Turnstile Tour guide and Sarah Crean, Co-Founder and Managing Editor of the New York Environment Report (schedule subject to change).
This special series of boat tours is hosted by Turnstile Tours and Classic Harbor Line, departing from Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 5.
Advacnce ticket purchase required. Ticket includes one complimentary beer, wine or champagne for those 21 and over. Please visit the Classic Harbor Line FAQ page for any questions you might have. The tour will take place rain or shine. Unfortunately, the yacht Kingston is not accessible to people in wheelchairs.
