Taught by Miles Liebtag

Miles Liebtag has an MA in Literature and rarely apologizes for it. He aspires to the appellation "creative professional," but all he really makes is beer and carbon dioxide. He lives in Long Island City with a lady, a baby, and two cats.

Ready to take your beer geekery to the next level? Tried your hand at homebrewing from a kit, but looking to learn more and refine your technique? Just curious what all the fuss is about? All Grain Brewing 101 will give you the know-how to brew awesome & delicious beers from malted barley and will make you more knowledgeable about the beers you're already drinking.

In this class, we'll go through all the steps in an All Grain brew day, discussing equipment, processes and tips for quality control along the way. You'll learn how to mash grains, how to sparge, boil, hop, chill and pitch yeast, as well as best practices for sanitization (a crucial part of successful homebrewing). We'll also talk about how things like mash temperature, boil time and hop addition schedule affect the qualities of finished beers, helping you better understand the processes that go into some of your favorite commercial brews and giving you strategies for recipe planning at home.

This class is ideal for beginning-to-intermediate level homebrewers as well as lay beer geeks with a thirst for practical knowledge. Homebrew samples will be provided, and we'll also talk about essential equipment for the apartment homebrewer.
