Taught by James Hoffman

Come on a journey through the breweries of Bushwick both old and new. This tour starts with a walking tour of the former historic breweries of Bushwick and ends with a brewery crawl of 2 to 3 current breweries in the area.
You'll learn about how German immigration to America changed drinking habits for New Yorkers, how German beer halls differed from most drinking establishments in the city, and what happened to the famous breweries of New York that mostly disappeared in the mid-1990s.
After seeing the sites of past breweries we will then visit the sites of contemporary breweries in Bushwick checking out 2 to 3 breweries in the area to sit down and have a beer.
In addition to brewing history we will also talk about the general history of Bushwick, stop to discuss some of the famous street art in the area, and connect the history of beer to other NYC institutions including Coney Island and the early days of baseball.
For this first inaugural tour we will be stopping at Niteglow and KCBC. Drinks are not included in the ticket price. The tour guide will have recommendations for what to order, but you can choose whatever you like from the menu.
