This is an old class! Check out the current classes, or sign up for our mailing list to see if we'll offer this one again.

This class might be over, but get first dibs on new sessions and brand-new classes by signing up on our ultra-rad mailing list.

In this three session class, we'll explore the making of a handbound book from start to finish.

First, we'll talk a bit about the basics of paper: grain, folding properties, and the million other factors to consider when choosing paper for bookmaking, like weight, colors, and finishes.

Next, we'll look and try out several types of binding--folded bindings, accordian binding, and glued perfect-binding.

We'll also discuss some different ways to make simple covers. In the end, you'll combine all the skills you've learned into your own handmade book to take home and have plenty of time to work on the finished product.

This class, like alllll of the others, happens at the Brainery space at 515 Court St in Brooklyn, on the corner of W 9th and Court.
