Book Event: Fiery Ferments
Taught by Kirsten K. Shockey
Kirsten K. Shockey is the coauthor of Fermented Vegetables with her husband, Christopher Shockey. They got their start in fermenting foods with their farmstead food company, where they created more than 40 varieties of cultured vegetables and krauts. Their current focus is on teaching the art of fermenting vegetables to others through classes and workshops at their farm. They live on a 40-acre hillside homestead in the Applegate Valley of southern Oregon.
Join us for a special evening with Kirsten Shockey, author of Fermented Vegetables, as she shows you how to ferment foods with a spicy kick. Following research from around the globe for her new book, Fiery Ferments, Kirsten is armed with an arsenal of delicious ways to add spicy fermented food to every dish you enjoy.
After discussing her research and techniques, she’ll show you how to make a Basic Fermented Pepper Mash that is the basis for many a pungent condiment and a Green Chile Salsa Starter.
Samples will be available for you to taste, and copies of Fiery Ferments will be available for sale.
