Taught by Rachel Jones

As a woodworker and jack-of-all-tradesy crafter, Rachel Eli Jones's work manifests in functional utilitarian pieces that are designed to bring out the natural beauty and capabilities of the materials she uses.

Her simple designs are inspired by the idea that with basic well-honed skills, and only a few necessary tools, the best kind of creative/innovative problem-solving shines. On this foundation, Rachel explores creating from all types of natural materials including wood, metal, wool, fiber, leather, plants, and wax.

When Rachel is not taking on a freelance gig, you will often find her helping out friends with home-improvement projects, or learning yet another new craft.

This is an old class! Check out the current classes, or sign up for our mailing list to see if we'll offer this one again.

This class might be over, but get first dibs on new sessions and brand-new classes by signing up on our ultra-rad mailing list.

Take a stick and turn it into a spoon! Learn the foundational techniques of whittling, knife care and safety, and a little crash course in wood science.

In this beginners course, you will be guided through the process of whittling your own spoon which you will get to take home with you, and hopefully be inspired to whittle more! Once you know how, there's really nothing stopping you.

We'll provide all the materials, and if you'd like to keep your knife, you can purchase it for an additional $10 at the end of class.
