Taught by Rhiannon Platt
Rhiannon Platt is at least third generation fiber artist. Raised by seamstresses, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds, she picked up her first pair of needles over a decade ago. Since her first scarf, Rhiannon has gone on to fabricate for Lion Brand Yarn, Nathan Vincent, Olek, Jeila Gueramian, Londonkaye, and Levi’s. In between commissions, she finds time to write patterns and make endless sweaters.
Who needs a green thumb when you can crochet yourself a plant?
In this class we will make a cactus that requires eve less water than the real thing. Working through Gleeful Things’ pattern, students will leave class with a miniature crocheted plant, which is perfect for using up those pesky scraps! The skills learned while this project can be applied after class to create any amigurumi object, pizza slices, video game characters, or more plants for your own crochet garden!
- Chain, Single Crochet, Double Crochet, decreasing, pattern reading, and working in the round
- Optional: Magic circle
Please bring an E Crochet Hook and any worsted weight yarn scraps you might want to use, especially in green, beige, yellow and any color you might want to use for your cactus pot. We'll also have yarn and all the other needed materials.
