An Introduction to Sour Beer
Taught by Jess M.
Jess likes so many things she’s coming apart at the seams! Or maybe it’s because she’s filled with beer (or bubble tea). Jess fell in love with sour beers in the 90's and has never looked back.
When not working to pay the bills, she fills the remaining time as a budding polymath, mastering everything from knitting to mushroom hunting. She can be found, occasionally, writing as the NY Knitting Examiner or on the oft-neglected group knitting blog, The Drowsy Knitter.
If you didn’t know it was supposed to taste that way, you might think it had gone bad…but in a good way (think kombucha, or stinky cheese). So off it’s on. The make out sessions of wild yeast and a role of the dice give you a beer style that’s been around forever, and its renaissance is now.
Think you don’t like beer? Let sour be your gateway, with fizzy, flavorful tang.
In this class we’ll take a stroll through the history of this unique beer style, learning why location matters and how modern small brewers take a big risk when they brew sour. Then we’ll get to the good stuff – beer tasting! A selection of locally available sour beers will be presented to edify your taste buds.
