Take your tie-dye skills to the next level!

Shibori is the process of manipulating and dyeing fabric. Rather than treating cloth as a two-dimensional surface, it is given a three-dimensional form by folding, crumpling, stitching, plaiting, or plucking and twisting.

This class will focus on designing linear patterns on cotton fabric, which will be hand stitched and dyed using ancient Japanese shibori techniquesAlthough there are fifteen different techniques, we will focus on Nui Shibori (stitched) and fold shibori techniques.

We'll provide cotton pieces for you to sew and fold along with a takeout container for taking dye home so it can continue soaking, then you'll wash out your creations at home.

Some hand-sewing experience will make things a bit easier since we'll be stitching patterns onto our fabric during class!
