This is an old class! Enjoy the notes, and check out the current courses.
This two-week math course will be a composite of history, anecdote, a bit of homework, group work, jokes, art, and obviously math.
First class: we will learn some neat math that is taught in schools using numbers (blisteringly mindnumbing) but I'll illustrate using simple shapes (intuitive, titillating, and alluring).
Second class: we will leave behind shapes and push our brains to the limit as we explore the insanity of the past, present, and future number theory.
No arithmetic or math skills past the 4th grade required!
This class, like all the rest, meets at 515 Court Street, in Carroll Gardens BK.

For those with shorter attention spans, I'd refer you to the doodling of Vi Hart: http://vihart.com/doodling/ She's quite engaging and funny, and her videos are only 5 minutes long.

Secondly, I'd like to refer you to "From Zero to Infinity" by Constance Reid. Each chapter focuses on a number, but really goes deep into the history of world mathematics. Just in case your wondering, infinity gets its own chapter, and Georg Cantor is its star.
