This class meets at our Prospect Heights location

The run of beginner classes has been very successful -- lots of people are out there right now whooping up on their dads, brothers, spouses! Excellent results!

But the next big question is: now that I know what all the pieces are called, and how they all move, and now that I know all about the strange rules and occasional exceptions that can occur, such as pawn promotion, castling, and en passant -- now that I know all this, what do I do next? How do I develop my winning strategy??

It's that next-level class you've been hearing about. For questions like: what's the best way to win games quickly? how should I arrange my pieces so I can have a good defense? I usually get off to a good start, but then I can't figure out how to finish the job -- what am I doing wrong? This class will tackle all these questions and more: solid opening strategies; basic tactical tricks; good defensive set-ups; fast checkmate traps -- everything you need to take it to the next level.

We'll be looking at the positions and games of some of the world's top players, past and present, as well as analyzing some of our games, played in class.
