Taught by Ruby Disko

If you felt a recent shift in the crafting climate of Brooklyn, it is because Ruby Disko said goodbye to her hometown in Portland, OR and decided to call NY home. You can always find scrap thread littered around her apartment and a full basket of knitted hats and scarves in the winter. She has been transforming anything and everything into crafted works of art for years and has been sharing her skills for just as long.

Embroidery isn't just for grandma anymore! (Although grandmothers are more than welcome to attend.) We have kindly borrowed her needles and hoops to turn new designs and doodles into funky, original art.

We'll start by threading a needle and by the end you will have a tea towel with your own, chosen design embroidered on it. You will learn four basic stitches and two knots, which will be used to outline an image on a tea towel. A variety of designs will be provided for inspiration or come prepared with your own idea. Thread, needles, and a tea towel will all be provided and taken home by everyone.

Never threaded a needle before? Thought hoops were just for hula-ing? No worries, we will cover the basics to get you started.
