Taught by Marisa T. Cohen

Dr. Marisa T. Cohen earned her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology, with a concentration in Learning, Development and Instruction from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. While her dissertation and early research interests focused on interventions which facilitate the acquisition and retention of vocabulary within the science content area, she has shifted her focus in recent years.

In Fall 2014, along with a colleague, she founded the Self-Awareness and Bonding Lab (SABL) at St. Francis College. The research conducted in this lab centers on the subfields of social psychology and relationship science. Research has focused on the development of relationships throughout the life span, including factors influencing mate choice and peoples’ perceptions of what makes relationships survive and thrive. Thursday, February 2, 6:30-8:00pm

Location: Prospect Heights Brainery (190 Underhill Ave in Prospect Heights, BK)

Marisa T. Cohen has previously given talks at the Brainery on mate selection and human bonding. Join her to celebrate the launch of her first book with a discussion of the science of relationships, book signing, and wine. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

From First Kiss to Forever: A Scientific Approach to Love is a fun and humorous, yet scientific, book about relationships. This book introduces the reader to relationship science. The chapters examine how people meet, select their mates, and fall in and out of love.

Readers need not be scientists to get a handle on the information presented. Each chapter relates present-day research to every day experiences and real relationship issues confronted by couples. Each ends with take home tips/questions to help the reader apply the lessons in his/her own life.

Join us for an evening of discussion and laughs as we prepare for Valentine’s Day.
