Homemade Salad Dressings
Taught by Connor
Connor is an Actor who lives in Brooklyn. Prior to moving to Brooklyn in 2009 for graduate school and to pursue an acting career, Connor worked in various restaurants in Maine and Philadelphia, everything from short order to saucier. When he is not off on tour or working at a regional theater, Connor embraces his clichéd life by working as a barista, and by cooking a lot for his roommates.
Ever pick up a bottle of dressing and wonder why you need xantham gum and red #6 in your dressing? Well, the answer is, you don’t.
If you’re interested in learning how to make fresh, tasty salad dressings – with ingredients you can find outside of a lab – to adorn your spring and summer salads, here’s a great place to start.
We’ll briefly discuss the cornerstone dressing – the vinaigrette – and the tons of places you can take your dressings once you know a few basics. Then, we’ll learn by doing, making several different dressings and sampling them.
Bring a whisk, a favorite ingredient and a bottle to take home some of our creations.
This class, like all the rest, meets at 515 Court Street, in Carroll Gardens BK.
