A note on glass

A note on glass: The container you choose for your terrarium is very important. Not only does it have to be the right size and shape for your needs, it must also present your tiny landscape -- in a word -- clearly. Avoid containers with painted-on labels, etched designs or colored glass. Also look closely for imperfections, waves or scratches that can detract from what's inside. Think about how seams and markings will look when your terrarium is on display. Finally, make sure to thoroughly clean your containers before the class and remove any unwanted labels and sticky residue. Lime deposits and hard water stains can be removed by soaking in a weak mixture of white vinegar overnight, repeating if necessary. Be sure to rinse your container thoroughly if you use chemicals to clean it.
