Root Beer

Taught by j soma

Soma was born in the South, is what someone from the North would say. He cooks for fun, codes for hire, and has more hobbies than can dance on the head of a pin. His work has been featured everywhere from Gawker to The New York Times.

This class meets at our Court Street location

Root beer is a lot more than what A&W cranks out. Let's play apothecary and mix up some of our very own root beers while learning about the surprising history of everyone's favorite earthy beverage.

We'll cover carbonating via the joys of technology (or your corner bodega) as well as the DIY version for more adventurous souls. Spice cabinets will be raided - sassafras, licorice, nutmeg, star anise, molasses and more - and custom concoctions created. Root beer floats? We'll get to that, too.

The most important part of this class may very well be where you learn to spell sarsaparilla.
